"Thank you very much for the percussion set, what a lovely surprise! We couldn't believe how many different instruments were in the box. Lots of djembe drums and some other more unusual instruments - great quality and totally free! What a brilliant gift! We are very much enjoying putting them to immediate use!

We had a fantastic experience with My School CD. It is all so well organised, so provided you follow the formula set out for you, it's totally stress free! We went for the 'Zero Risk' option for a first venture and it was brilliant. The children were so excited when the engineer came for our recording day and they challenged themselves to try to record their song perfectly first time! We held a front cover design competition which the children loved and we produced a lovely Christmas CD just in time for the holidays.

Despite being a small school of only 150 pupils we managed to sell about 120 CDs which just shows what a super souvenir they were and what a fantastic opportunity for the children it was. I was really surprised by the quality of the sound and the parents were very complimentary about how unique the CDs were.

We will definitely repeat the process again. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience."

"Using My School CD was a great way to kick start our Artsmark journey. The fact that it was zero-risk, particularly in the current climate of reduced school funding, meant it was especially good. The project inspired teachers to use singing resources hitherto untapped and inspired them to become singing classrooms! The sound engineer on the day was very patient and accommodating, particularly with our nursery children and he worked tirelessly to get the best out of our little performers.

Communication with the team was good and all the letters and artwork competition were provided for us. The arrival of our free Monkey Drum set – very high quality and gorgeous – just finished off a lovely singing experience for us. Thank you, My School CD!"

Here's what Jenny, the school's music co-ordinator, had to say about her experience recording a CD with us:
"What a completely great experience our CD recording was! Children loved every part of it, from designing the CD cover, to receiving the finished CDs. The project was a fantastic way of giving children a focus for their music making and really helped to raise the standard of musical performance this term across the board in both singing and instrumental playing.

The process was not at all onerous for teaching staff, with easy to use templates for CD cover designs and letters to parents set out for you.

The day of the recording itself was exciting for pupils and teachers alike and our recording engineer was really encouraging, supportive and patient. He used some fabulous recording techniques to help us sound our best and the CDs were of an excellent quality and something for us all to be proud of! The CDs were produced very quickly so that we could get them out to parents in time for Christmas, which was also very impressive.

I've not stopped playing my CD over the whole of the Christmas holidays and would thoroughly recommend the process to anyone considering it. Thank you so much My School CD, for this wonderful experience!"

Hear what Anthony Coupe, the musical director for Ellesmere College had to say about his experience recording a CD with us:
"The whole experience with the CD was great and I have enjoyed listening the final result.

The CD also provides quality audio material, which the choirs of Ellesmere can use to audition for performances on tour and as entries for national competitions.

I felt like I was in safe hands throughout the process and would encourage others to benefit from this experience, which provides an excellent means to share the performances of students with parents and the wider community.

When the dust has settled on all of the individual lessons that children experience, and you look back on your time at school, being able to put on a CD that captures you at a younger age will immediately evoke great memories".

Music plays a special part in the life of the school; everyone sings and hundreds of children sing in the choirs and play instrumentally in the orchestra and recorder groups. The previous CD we made with My School CD was played outside Morrison's Supermarket in Reigate by Father Christmas for several weeks. This year's CD was made at the request of the Headteacher, Mrs Constable, who will be retiring at the end of the summer term in 2016. "Wow! What a great project to be part of! Today, I have doubled my car journey because I couldn't stop listening to the CD on the way home from work.

The sound engineer has done a great job of recording the children and editing the tracks to make sure they sound great. I was particularly impressed with the echo he used for soloists and the fade in/fade out effects for some of the songs.

The project has run smoothly and efficiently with little work needed from school staff. The letter templates are easy to adapt and send out and if you follow the step-by-step instructions you can't go wrong. A great addition to the project was the artwork competition- the children loved designing a front cover and their competition entries have made a great school display.

The recording day was great fun for both children and staff. It really helped to create a sense of community by bringing everyone together to sing.

Overall, it was a great project and I would definitely recommend it to other schools!'

You can read some of the press coverage the project gained below:
"As a school we have thoroughly enjoyed working with My School CD.  Ann-Marie has been very supportive and has guided us / provided us with material to work through the recording process.

We are pleased that we provided all of the children with a chance to make a one-off 'Year of Mercy' CD, as it meant that they could show off their talent, faith and beautiful singing.  The children had taken on board all of the information and advice given to them during rehearsals and they sang with passion.  It made our school incredibly proud of all of their efforts.

The day of the recording went really well - we finished with 5-10 mins to spare! The children were delighted when they received a certificate to say that they had recorded a CD. Mark, the engineer, was friendly and approachable and he gave us tips during the recording.

All-in-all, it was a great experience and one that we would definitely recommend."

All together now: children celebrate formation of Cannon Lane Primary School with sing-song CD recording

School children joined together in song as a part of a musical celebration of the formation of Cannon Lane Primary School. Cannon Lane First School and Cannon Lane Junior School both joined to form the primary - based in Cannonbury Avenue, Pinner - in September 2013, and music leader Sue Mattick decided the best way to celebrate would be by all coming together under one banner on Friday to record a CD of their favourite songs.

My School CD Record at Dallington School, London

On 21st May 2014, My School CD spent the day in London, recording a CD with Dallington School. This was the first of two CDs we have produced for the school over the last three years (the second being a Christmas CD in December 2016).

Here's a few pictures from their 2014 recording.

My School CD Record at Newbottle Primary School, Tyne and Wear

On December 5th 2013 we recorded Newbottle Primary School.

This was a fantastic project, and the school provided a CD for every child in the school which is a fantastic gesture and meant that every child had a lasting memento of the project to enjoy.

Each class recorded a Christmas song, as did the school choir and even the staff choir joined in with the festive spirit by recording a song for the CD.

You can read the press coverage in the Sunderland Echo:

MOVE over Cliff Richard, a Wearside school is recording its own Christmas CD.

The pupils and staff at Newbottle Primary School had a recording studio brought to them so they could create their own festive music. The Houghton Road school invited the company, My School CD, along to help them plan and record the tracks.

Kevin Beston, deputy headteacher at the school, said: "We thought this was a great way for the children to experience something completely different, and the whole school has been involved with the project". He said they wanted the children to experience all the different aspects of being singers, such as rehearsing regularly, recording the songs and singing live.

The pupils will be performing the music nearer to Christmas, both in school and for the benefit of the community. The children also helped create the artwork for the CD cover. Each class was given a song to perform, and has been rehearsing for weeks, and the school and staff choirs have also had their tracks recorded. The CD will end with a version of White Christmas, where the singers are accompanied by just a piano.

Mr Beston said: "It was a bit strange rehearsing Christmas carols at Halloween, but a couple of the children said they already had their decorations up! The CD is not just traditional carols - it's quite a modern style. A sort of Newbottle does Michael Buble".

My School CD went along to the school to record all the tracks and the CDs will be delivered to them before the children break up for the holidays. Mr Beston said: "Every child will be given a free copy of the CD to take home with them, which they can wrap up as a gift for someone, or keep for themselves".

My School CD Record at Astwood Bank First School, Redditch

On 2nd December 2013, My School CD spent the day recording a whole school CD with Astwood Bank First School in Redditch.

As well as a free recording day, we provided the school with a free 30 player Monkey Drum Set from Primary Percussion, which the school then used to create an original composition as part of the My School CD Competition.

Astwood Bank's video entry won the competition and their prize was a full day African drumming and dance workshop with London-based Wuntanara.

Hear what Joe George, the school's music co-ordinator, had to say about his experience working with us:
"Our experience working with My School CD has been nothing short of amazing! We made our recording back in 2013 and the whole school was thrilled with the outcome. We received excellent support and advice during the build-up and the recording day itself was extremely satisfying. We felt like real professionals and the quality of the finished CD was superb. The production options were clear and we went into the project knowing that we would likely make a couple of hundred pounds profit which we then used to purchase a splendid set of handbells and to replace some of our old glockenspiels. We also received a 30 player African percussion set as a gift from My School CD simply for taking part in the recording day, and this has had a lot of use throughout the school and has been very well received by the children.

We then were invited to use our lovely new African instruments to make a further video recording in order to enter a competition, again hosted by My School CD. The process of writing and recording this video was extremely engaging and the whole school got behind the project and were delighted when we eventually won! The prize for this was an African drumming and dance full day workshop from London-based Wuntanara. This workshop was carried out in February 2015, and again, the whole school was full of music and that infectious and joyful African vibe!

What a journey! A professional CD recorded, for free, a lovely set of African percussion, for free, money raised for other new instruments, a Youtube video and competition win, and a tremendous day with Wuntanara!"
